Tips for Chinese to apply Australian visa

3 weeks visa applying finally ended today. I failed to apply it because the time limitation. The trip is on tomorrow, but I got an E-mail from Korean Australian Embassy today for requesting more documents...I have no choice but replying I gave up application this time.. Mistakes made by both Australian Embassy and I lead to this fail.

  • Korean Australian Embassy wrongly published the application fee on website, which made me to send some more fee again.
  • I didn't expected the visa applying time duration is such long, say 2 or 3 weeks. I didn't apply it earlier and I didn't use express mail which waste lots of time during the process.

While the fundamental reason is that Australian government made strict rules for Chinese to enter Australia due to the large immigration cases. Contrary, Korean citizens can go to Australia without visa application...

One of my Chinese acquaintance said he hated to have Chinese passport because of the troublesome procedures. And finally, he immigrated to Canada. As he said, people can travel more than 100 countries without visa application if you hold Canadian passport or Australian passport. It is so unfair to Chinese-_-... Something wrong there....

Anyway, I got a great lesson from this experience. In order to prevent the fail application next time when I plan to travel Australia, I should take some notes for reminding.. here it is:

  • Application form downloaded from Australian Embassy website
  • The application fee (Check website about the amount of fee and transfer form)
  • Passport
  • Copy of alien card-front and back (student in Korea)
  • Last 3 months bank transaction record -an original copy issued by the bank should be provided - not a print out from online banking.
  • Travel itinerary
  • Detailed statement as to how and whom you will be spending with in Australia- if you are granted this visa.
  • Other additional documentations are listed along with the application form
