The significance of half egg 계란 반쪽의 의미

"냉면 (Cold Buckwheat Noodle)" is popular food in Korea. In every cold noodle, there is half an egg on the top of it. Since I like egg, I always eat it at the last. Today, I got to know that it is not the right way to eat cold noodle. The egg has its usage here:

The cold buckwheat noodles are made from a mixture of buckwheat and flour. As buckwheat is high in cellulose content, eating this dish on an empty stomach can be harmful for the stomach lining. The addition of egg to cold buckwheat noodle is designed to protect the stomach lining.

I will sure to eat the egg first next time when I eat the cold noodle.

Tips of 'traveling for less'

Here are some ways to travel for less:

Cheap airplane tickets. To fly for less money, you can buy non-refundable plane tickets two or three months before your trip. The cheapest way to fly is as a courier. In return for delivering a package for a courier company, you get a plane ticket that costs as little as one-quarter of the regular fare-or even less if the company needs someone at the last minute.

Train Passes. If you're going to do a lot of traveling by train, a train pass will save you money. Buying a single pass gives you unlimited travel for a period of time. Train passes can be especially useful in India, which has the world's largest rail system; in Japan, where trains are fast and convenient; and in Europe, where trains go to over 30,000 cities.

Butter, Margarine, Olive oil

Butter, margarine and olive oil are commonly used as table spread and condiment all over the world. With the concern of health, researches showed that butter and margarine bring more health problem. Olive oil is taking the increasing market share.

Butter is a dairy product made by churning fresh or fermented cream or milk. It contains high choloestrol and saturated fat.

Margarine can be made from a wide variety of animal or vegetable fats, and is often mixed with skimmed milk, salt, and emulsifiers.Margarine contains no cholestrol and low levels of saturated fat. But it contents high proportion of trans fats. Research shows a strong link between heart attacks or earlier death and consumption of high amounts of trans fat. Stick margarine contains the most trans fat.

Olive oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the olive. It is regarded as a healthy dietary oil because of its high content of monounsaturated fat and polyphenols.

An unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acid in which there is one or more double bond in the fatty acid chain. A fat molecule is monounsaturated if it contains one double bond, and polyunsaturated if it contains more than one double bond. Where double bonds are formed, hydrogen atoms are eliminated, which may result in high chance of rancidity. A saturated fat is "saturated" with hydrogen atoms. Hydrogenating unsaturated fat can raise the melting point and reduce the rancidity. But the process of hydrogenation results in a propotion of changed fat becoming trans fat.

Tips for Chinese to apply Australian visa

3 weeks visa applying finally ended today. I failed to apply it because the time limitation. The trip is on tomorrow, but I got an E-mail from Korean Australian Embassy today for requesting more documents...I have no choice but replying I gave up application this time.. Mistakes made by both Australian Embassy and I lead to this fail.

  • Korean Australian Embassy wrongly published the application fee on website, which made me to send some more fee again.
  • I didn't expected the visa applying time duration is such long, say 2 or 3 weeks. I didn't apply it earlier and I didn't use express mail which waste lots of time during the process.

While the fundamental reason is that Australian government made strict rules for Chinese to enter Australia due to the large immigration cases. Contrary, Korean citizens can go to Australia without visa application...

One of my Chinese acquaintance said he hated to have Chinese passport because of the troublesome procedures. And finally, he immigrated to Canada. As he said, people can travel more than 100 countries without visa application if you hold Canadian passport or Australian passport. It is so unfair to Chinese-_-... Something wrong there....

Anyway, I got a great lesson from this experience. In order to prevent the fail application next time when I plan to travel Australia, I should take some notes for reminding.. here it is:

  • Application form downloaded from Australian Embassy website
  • The application fee (Check website about the amount of fee and transfer form)
  • Passport
  • Copy of alien card-front and back (student in Korea)
  • Last 3 months bank transaction record -an original copy issued by the bank should be provided - not a print out from online banking.
  • Travel itinerary
  • Detailed statement as to how and whom you will be spending with in Australia- if you are granted this visa.
  • Other additional documentations are listed along with the application form

A little knowledge of taking photo^^

By adjusting the aperture size, the photo will show different effect. when taking this photo, the apertue is tightly closed. Comparing to the photo below, the whole picture is much clear. When wild open the aperture size, the focus will be getting smaller. we can see that the toy in the photo is clear while the around area is blur . Depth of field(DOF) is 'the range of focus'. In other words, DOF is the sharpness of front and back of the focus object(target).Deep DOF means the image has wide(from front to rear) range of focus. You'll get clear background.Shallow DOF means the image has narrow range of focus. You'll get blurry background. The major factors affecting DOF are: 1) Focal length of the lens. Short focal length=deep DOF. 2) The aperture size. Narrow aperture=deep DOF. 3) The distance of object. Distant object=deep DOF. Aperture is the hole to accept lights. Suppose the size of aperture is really small... like a pinhole. And suppose that you are seeing an object through the pinhole. You'll use only one eye and just can see the front of the object through the pinhole. You can't see left or right side of the object. You can hardly sense the distance between you and the object, and also the distance between the object and the background. Next, when the aperture size is big enough as the size of a soccer ball, you will be able to use both of your eyes, see front and also some of the left, right side of the object. Now you can fill the distance of the object. The bigger size of the hole(aperture) means the wider angle of incoming light rays.Wide angle of light rays tend to produce more 3-dimensional images. But actually the image is 2-dimensional, out-of-focus areas are blurred. On the other hand, narrow angle of light rays produce flat images. Links of explaining DOF: http://smad.jmu.edu/dof/ http://www.vanwalree.com/optics/dof.html Note: there are some letters on the dial. "M"stands for "Manual", it means user can set the Aperture size and Shutter speed; "Av"stands for "Aperture value",It means When you set the aperture size, camera will determine appropriate Shutter speed. "Tv" stands for "Time value". You set the time(Shutter speed), camera sets aperture size automatically."P" is "Program". Camera determines everything according to its 'program'. this mode is suitable for the person like me to use. ^^! it is simple...[Some camera has different labels :Av = Fv = F/Tv = Sv = S]
