韩国百万民众的蜡烛集会

今天（6月10日）在韩国历史上是民主抗争21周年纪念日，韩国民众把今天定为反对进口美国牛肉的最大规模的示威活动日。韩国全国范围内预计将有百万人参加此集会，首尔地区将有50万人参加。而反对蜡烛集会的民众也将举行游行，预计有5万人参加，两队人马是否会发生口角冲突是目前各界所担忧的问题。

老公和我本想参加此次的蜡烛集会，但老公突然肌肉拉伤，考虑安全问题，我们只好放弃了。当时我们决定参加蜡烛集会的时候，我还是感到挺新鲜的。韩国的民主活动确实已经达到了一个很高的水准，国民通过网络策划，宣传，组织了多次大规模的蜡烛集会，甚至在网上都能看到蜡烛集会的实况转播，而且众多网民在网上观看实况转播的同时进行着文字交流。蜡烛集会甚至被某些传媒称为历史上示威游行的革命，而网络则是这场革命必不可少的媒介。 这也证实了韩国的确是无可比拟的网络发达国家。

另外，这次的示威游行暨蜡烛集会不同于以往的示威活动，人们在示威队伍中自娱自乐，使示威活动变成了人们消遣娱乐的一种方式。伴着乐器的旋律，人们又唱又跳，俨然成了壮观的节庆活动，并被媒体称为MT(Source)。这次的反对进口美国牛肉的示威活动似乎演变出了多种示威的新形式，必然会成为示威历史上的一个重要篇章。

为四川地震募捐 Donation for Sichuan Earthquake

Chinese Community in KAIST organized a donation event since Sichuan province in China was heavily hit by the earthquake. Chinese students in KAIST were gathered together to make posters and prepared for the whole event. I was honored to be part of the donation event.

On the second day, we set 3 spots for the donation, I was in the East Cafeteria to in charge of the donation.

Shisha Shop-水烟袋

怀着对水烟袋(Shisha, Hookah, Nargile) 的好奇，今天我和男友终于走进了KAIST附近的一家水烟袋吧。由于听说里面不含尼古丁，不会吸烟的人也可以尝试，所以对于这种新奇的家伙，我早就耐不住迫切要尝试的心情了。一拿到菜单，我们就把注意力集中到了水烟袋的不同选择上。选择有很多，有各种不同的水果味。由于第一次尝试，我们还是采取了保守的路线，让店主推荐一款，推荐的是橘子味的。不一会工夫，一台有着绿色瓶身(水仓)，银色瓶颈(烟仓)的水烟袋就被摆在了我们的面前。并且还提供了2个半透明色的烟嘴。吸的方法很简单，把烟嘴套在烟棒上直接吸饮就可以了。我于是迫不及待的安上了烟嘴。 哦，我的好奇心总算被满足了。 我拿着烟管，模仿抽烟人的样子，深深的吸了一口，并没有什么感觉和味道。然后再模仿吸烟人的样子， 把嘴里的烟吐出来。 哦，有味道了。香香的，烟香味，橘香味？并没有太多的心情去研究，我还是继续沉溺于“吸烟”的新奇感受。哈，这可是二十多年来的第一张“吸烟”的照片，估计被父母看见的话，少不了一顿解释，呵呵 细细端详了一下水烟袋，水烟袋的最上端是烟碗，上面放着烟料。烟碗的下端连有一细管，此细管一直伸到水仓中的液体里。烟料产生的烟也就经由细管经水过滤，而那液体则是被制成不同的味道，随着被过滤的烟一同由吸管引导被吸烟的人吸出。水烟袋的构造，就是根据“隔水吸之”的原理来设计的，这样一来，烟油、尼古丁及杂质大部分留在水里，进入口中的烟似乎要卫生多了。 今天不光体验了水烟袋，又增加了对水烟袋的了解，可谓不虚此举。不过，透露一个秘密，我吸烟时，只让烟雾停留在口腔中，随即便吐出来了，我并没有深深地把它吸入肺里(原因是我不会^^;;)。我当时也没觉得我的吸法不对，只是后来想想怎么吸烟会一点感觉都没有呢， 才想到是方法的问题。赫赫

对KAIST研一学生实施全面英文授课

从这学期开始， KAIST全面实施对研究生一年级学生的英语教学计划。 我们系也一致贯彻下来了。看来KAIST真的要向国际化和最高学府进军了。 英语教学大大方便了外国留学生。 我还记得上学期的韩语专业课上的我甚是艰难。 我想在清华美院开设英语教学一定还是困难重重，教师和学生的英语水平都有待提高。 相比之下， 清美离国际化还差得远一些。

International Collaboration Award

On the 36th ceremony of KAIST establishment, my Prof. Kum-Pyo, Lee was granted of International collaboration award. He surely deserves it. I am the result of his efforts in international collaboration. hehe. Congratulations, Prof. Lee.

Liu Chenxin graduated

Liu Chenxin, who helped me a lot before I came to Korea, graduated today. He is going to work in LG in Korea. Good for him^^. I am also looking forward to the moment of my graduation. It is the time to consider my future.

Worldcup:한국-토고 전

Many students gathered in 노천극장 to watch the game 한국-토고 전. I was really amazed by that scene.. they cheered loudly whenever korean team made some excited moment. Finaly, Korea won the game. People were in great happiness at that moment.

Day for taking graduation photos

We were going to take graduation photos. Everyone were dressed up. I also did a lot of preparation for that. This is the first time for me to dress so formal. I didnt feel comfortable with the formal dress especially the shoes, which made my feet hurt... My labmates ^^

International Summer Jazz Party

KI-House held the 2nd International Summer Jazz Party on June 9th, 2006. I heard the 1st party was held 10 years ago, but at that time, there were few foreigners here. Now the number of foreigners are increasing, the fact let KI-House realize that it is essential to hold the Jazz Party again to gether foreign friends and have fun. Then we have Jazz Party ^^ The Jazz Party held in the ground besides CT building. Grace and Harvey was hosting the party. The chorus Love Arirang. Chinese friends. Grace pushed us to sing a chinese song, my friends were preparing the song. They were singing on the stage. I am proud of them^^

MT + My birthday!

May 13th, we went to GongJu to have memership training. Many alumni also came.This house is where we gethered and stayed. we were having barbeque. My birthday party began. It was indeed a big party. hehe Professor Lee was giving me my birthday present. My bithday cake~~~ Our big family~~

Enjoy Cherry Blossom with Chinese Friends

In this early spring, many chinses students in Kaist got together and went to ChoungNam university to enjoy the cherry blossom. We had a great time together ^-^

Exhibition in Art Museum

In the lovely weather, I visited Art Museum in Daejeon. I was in front of Art Museum. The exhibition of photogragh from Dutch.Korean artists' art exhibition. An art work in the exhibition. I found it was quite interesting, which was a plastic bag in human body shape. It is indeed an eye-catcher if I take it while walking on the street... ^0^

Party on March 10th.

We had a party again in Grace's house. Many new comers this time, and most of them came from Hong Kong. we had a great meal together. Maybe because there are so many Chinese, Grace also cooked some Chinese food. I really love that^^ Dinner time... Me and my lovely food. ^^ The topic of the talking is what is your strong point. David was talking about his strong point. Some people's talking was pretty funny, which made us laugh... the most intesting strong point I heard is from a studen from Hong Kong. She said her strong point is that she is still young. Right! we are still young, which can provides us many oppertunities... The party is indeed a big international party. we came from 13 countries. hearts from different countries melt together in this small but cosy house.

DTC-Daedeok Toastmasters Club

Daedeok Toastmasters Club is held on every thursday. It is the first toastmasters club in Daedeok/Daejeon area. Toastmasters is the best way to improve people's communication skills. Lose fears of public speaking and learn skills that will help people be more successful in whatever path they've chosen in life. I attended this club on March 9th, and found it is indeed a good place to improve English speaking and listening skill, share other people's life and feeling ,as well as entertain oneselfe. I benefit from all those aspects. There are several sessions in the meeting: Word Master, News Report, Joke Marster, Table Topic, DTC member speach. Chairman Hioton was hosting the meeting. Sung il 오빠 was giving a speech. Harvey was giving a speech. Sung il 오빠 won the speech.

A party in Grace's house

Grace invited us to the party in her house on Fridy. This is the first "Grace's house gathering party" on this semester. I met many new friends there and also we enjoyed a delicious meal. Grace is welcoming new comers. Food was served..^^ The hostess Grace was hosting the party. She is so nice and elegant. She always give the warmth to people. We were chatting in the party. Telling story of each person and comunicating with others are the goals of the gathering. A musican was playing music in the party. She played the well know music "Arilang" and the theme music of "대장금"（大长今） People from different country and different culture gethered here. We talk and laugh and share each person's life. The party warm and cheer up each person. Thank Grace and her husband to provide such good oppertunity to us. It made my life here in Korea more colorful. ^^
