Tips of 'traveling for less'

Here are some ways to travel for less:

Cheap airplane tickets. To fly for less money, you can buy non-refundable plane tickets two or three months before your trip. The cheapest way to fly is as a courier. In return for delivering a package for a courier company, you get a plane ticket that costs as little as one-quarter of the regular fare-or even less if the company needs someone at the last minute.

Train Passes. If you're going to do a lot of traveling by train, a train pass will save you money. Buying a single pass gives you unlimited travel for a period of time. Train passes can be especially useful in India, which has the world's largest rail system; in Japan, where trains are fast and convenient; and in Europe, where trains go to over 30,000 cities.

Tangible Interface-'Real' Desktop

The concept was published on CHI2006 conference. By concerning users' real working environment, this concept proposed a tangible interface which is similar to the real desktop. It lets users have more 'real' interaction with those files on desktop. Many ideas are quite interesting: for example, the idea for prioritizing the file and trashing the file and so on.

Butter, Margarine, Olive oil

Butter, margarine and olive oil are commonly used as table spread and condiment all over the world. With the concern of health, researches showed that butter and margarine bring more health problem. Olive oil is taking the increasing market share.

Butter is a dairy product made by churning fresh or fermented cream or milk. It contains high choloestrol and saturated fat.

Margarine can be made from a wide variety of animal or vegetable fats, and is often mixed with skimmed milk, salt, and emulsifiers.Margarine contains no cholestrol and low levels of saturated fat. But it contents high proportion of trans fats. Research shows a strong link between heart attacks or earlier death and consumption of high amounts of trans fat. Stick margarine contains the most trans fat.

Olive oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the olive. It is regarded as a healthy dietary oil because of its high content of monounsaturated fat and polyphenols.

An unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acid in which there is one or more double bond in the fatty acid chain. A fat molecule is monounsaturated if it contains one double bond, and polyunsaturated if it contains more than one double bond. Where double bonds are formed, hydrogen atoms are eliminated, which may result in high chance of rancidity. A saturated fat is "saturated" with hydrogen atoms. Hydrogenating unsaturated fat can raise the melting point and reduce the rancidity. But the process of hydrogenation results in a propotion of changed fat becoming trans fat.

Review: Little Miss Sunshine

For me, it is an interesting movie. Lots of laughter was going on while I watching that movie. Each character in the movie was described amusingly quirky. You can find many joyful moment from those distinct characters. Besides the funny and sometimes hilarious scene in the movie, there are also something that lead people to think.
  • What is winner and what is loser? As grandfather said: a real loser is somebody that so afraid of not winning, they don't even try. Yes, if you are trying, then you are never a loser. I think my attitude towards "loser" will change from now on.
  • Dwayne said to Frank: If I wanna fly, I will find a way to fly; do what you love, and fuck the rest. At beginning, I laughed at this sentence because I thought it is interesting to say in that way. Latter, I realized that this sentence tells people a valuable thing that you need to believe in what you love, and don't let your believe to be shook by others.
  • After watching that movie, I began to think whether it is right to tell the truth to child or not regarding adult's love issue. The Mom insists that Olive should know the truth of adults' relationships, she would find a way to know anyway. I think I am agree with that. The proper education of adults' world wont do harm to them, rather it would lead youth to think properly and naturally.

My Advertisement Blocker

These days, I began to be bothered by the advertisement on the Naver dictionary website. I am kind of not knowing well how to block the advertisement by setting in the computer. So I got my own way...
Here is an advertisement blocker made by myself.

It is really simple: any suitable size "post-it" can do it!

Tips for Chinese to apply Australian visa

3 weeks visa applying finally ended today. I failed to apply it because the time limitation. The trip is on tomorrow, but I got an E-mail from Korean Australian Embassy today for requesting more documents...I have no choice but replying I gave up application this time.. Mistakes made by both Australian Embassy and I lead to this fail.

  • Korean Australian Embassy wrongly published the application fee on website, which made me to send some more fee again.
  • I didn't expected the visa applying time duration is such long, say 2 or 3 weeks. I didn't apply it earlier and I didn't use express mail which waste lots of time during the process.

While the fundamental reason is that Australian government made strict rules for Chinese to enter Australia due to the large immigration cases. Contrary, Korean citizens can go to Australia without visa application...

One of my Chinese acquaintance said he hated to have Chinese passport because of the troublesome procedures. And finally, he immigrated to Canada. As he said, people can travel more than 100 countries without visa application if you hold Canadian passport or Australian passport. It is so unfair to Chinese-_-... Something wrong there....

Anyway, I got a great lesson from this experience. In order to prevent the fail application next time when I plan to travel Australia, I should take some notes for reminding.. here it is:

  • Application form downloaded from Australian Embassy website
  • The application fee (Check website about the amount of fee and transfer form)
  • Passport
  • Copy of alien card-front and back (student in Korea)
  • Last 3 months bank transaction record -an original copy issued by the bank should be provided - not a print out from online banking.
  • Travel itinerary
  • Detailed statement as to how and whom you will be spending with in Australia- if you are granted this visa.
  • Other additional documentations are listed along with the application form

A nice Instant noodle restaurant

Today, I went to a restaurant which is special for instant noodle.
Indeed, there are so many variations of instant noodle.
And the restaurant's interior is quite nice, especially the table caught my eyes.
The middle area of the table is lower and the whole table is covered by a piece of glass.
The table body looks like a contenter in which some adornments are placed.
Most of those adornments are Korean traditional craftwork.
Take a look

Here are those Instant noodles: Pizza Cheese Instant Noodle(피자치즈라면) & Spicy taste Tuna Instant Noodle(참치해장라면)

They are really tasty and with acceptable price. ^^

Korea Service

An Inconvenient Truth

Delicious Duck-수통골 유황오리

On the first new year's day, I had chance to taste Korean duck. The first view indeed made me excited. It looks so tasty... and TASTY! ~~~~ The taste can be compared with Beijing roast duck. But it is in Korean way of cooking. No matter which way, I enjoy^^

2007

"2007年1月1日", It appears in my computer. It is strange to me, because I am familiar with 2006, not 2007. It shows the time is passing, not 2006 any longer, but 2007. A year which holds my future came silently. Sure, it holds the future of many people as well. We have to face it, again, a new year. Truthfully, Happily, Energetically. And, most important, to hold "love" always.
